"The Smiths"

I think that "The Smiths" are one of the most significant British bands that made a good contribution to the music world' because they have a unique style. They have 4 albums, and I think that their most successful album was “The Queen Is Dead” in 1989 because this became number 2 on the British chart. Also the magazine "Spin" situated this album in the first spot of their list as "The Greatest Albums Ever Made.”From this album I want to emphasize the song "There is a Light that Never Goes Out." This is one of my favorite songs of The Smiths, and I think it’s one of the most known. This song is considered as one of the tragic, deeper love songs ever written, and one of the most important pieces of poetic contemporary popular music, which has been recorded in over 20 different language versions. This song is a little controversial because the lyrics have some coincidences with the mystery of Princess Diana’s death. Also the name of the album announces a royal death. Some interesting facts:-After Princess Diana’s death Morrissey, was interviewed by correspondent Andres Lokko of the Swedish music magazine POP (edition of January 1998) who asked him “How did you react when you heard of Princess Diana’s death?” and Morrissey answered “It was so predictable.  It was expected....”I hope you liked. We will write next week about another band or artist. If you want you can suggest a band and we will try to post the information here.
