In the mid-eighties is a group that blends lively tone of the new wave, named "The Smiths" the singer  is Morrissey, the guitarist John Marr, his poetic style binding letters of sophisticated dyes classical guitars.
Finally, to understand what they meant when they emerged and their impact you should hear some words written in 1984 by an Irish journalist. They went quickly out of nowhere, the first group in that time to cross the line between indie and pop. I think there was a beauty and often disturbing in the Smiths, a sadness in their songs  with a vigor and earthiness, a somewhat comical simplicity in language and a sincere spirit of liberation. They have given a huge gap to bridge .There's something about the vulnerability of Morrissey, in the contemporary sense of the tragedy of the Smiths, with an increasingly large audience relates, the singer's self-pity and bitterness post-punk.'s something delicate, proud, fun and alive.

The Smiths

The smiths were a rock band created by Morrissey (vocal) and Johnny Marr (Guitarist) in Manchester in 1982 later joined Andy Rourke (Bassist) and Mike Joyce (drummer). Critics have called them the most important alternative rock band to come up from the British independent music scene of the 1980s. The Smiths won a significant following, and keep cult and commercial favorites. The band broke up in 1987 and have turned down several offers to reunite since then.
This is the list of the Smith’s albums:

-The Smiths.
-Meat is Murder.
-The Queen is dead
-Strangeways, Here we Come and break-up.

The name "The Smiths" appeared as a reaction against to all the bands who wore elaborate names to emphasize their music. The big debut of "The Smith" was with the album under the same name, which was released in February 1984 and became number two in the "UK albums chart". Many bands have actually borrowed and learned from The Smiths. As a result, Britpop might never have evolved the way it did if it had not been for the three years where the band released records. This makes The Smiths one of the most important bands of the '80's, even though they didn't survive very long.
Some interesting fact:
Before forming The Smiths in 1982, Johnny Marr (guitarist) had played in a variety of rock & roll bands, including Sister Ray, Freaky Part, White Dice, and Paris Valentinos, and Morrissey had sung for a few weeks with "the Nosebleeds".

This was our first post about a band. I hope you liked in the next post we will give our opinion about this band. Here the link with brief information
